If you use lamb mince then you have shepherd’s pie, beef mince gives you cottage pie and so it stands to reason that venison mince gives you hunter’s pie.
Comfort food for many, this dish has lots of variations but the best part is that it is a great pantry cleaner. You can almost put anything inside (or on top) and it will be a big success.
For this version I used the Venison mince Checker’s sponsored and topped it with cauliflower instead of potatoes

Ingredients
Method
- Heat the oil in apan and fry the onions. Once translucent add in the mince till browned. add the garlic and spices and stir in allowing to cook for about 1 minute then season to taste. Place in an oven proof dish. In the meantime steam the cauliflower. Mash it and add nutritional yeast, butter and seasoning. Spread the cauliflower over the mince and place under the grill until the topping browns.
Notes
Serve with a fresh salad in summer or add some veg in with the mince
